About Wild Familiar
Wild Familiar is about the attachments we form with animals. It turns out a lot of us feel a strong connection to the personalities of certain wild animals, and we can be strangely enthusiastic about them. Everyone seems to have a favorite. The animal they’ve loved since they were a kid. The one they swear is misunderstood. The one they admire for some oddly specific reason. And the reasons people give can tell you a surprising amount about them.
We started asking grown adults a simple question: What’s your favorite animal, and why? Then we documented their answers.
Those answers became the starting point for Wild Familiar. Some are funny. Some are sentimental. Some are oddly specific. Each one inspires a design built around the animal and the reason someone chose it.
The collection borrows inspiration from souvenir shops, national park graphics, and the things you bring home because they remind you of somewhere you loved. Wild Familiar turns that idea into something a little different: a souvenir for an animal that means something to you.
